Autumn and Steve contacted me with a very special request.  Steve is in the military and had recently been sent from Georgia to Tacoma for a few weeks of training before his deployment to Afghanistan.  He had been given a surprise 3 day leave and Autumn was planning on flying up to Seattle to spend the weekend with him.  They had never had professional pictures taken, even though they’ve been married for over a decade, so Steve had decided it was about time.

I can’t say that I have ever been as touched by a photo session before.  These two are so in love, and they endure so much.  They have two sweet little kids at home and I hope these pictures can fill their house with images of their parents together.  I have no idea what it would be like to have a husband in the military, but I have a huge appreciation for the sacrifices and heartache that families like Autumn’s are willing to endure.  Autumn, I hope that you love these and that they keep you smiling through the months to come!

My fave shots are the first two.  Isn’t Autumn beautiful?!

The Sidari family had me come over to their beautiful home for some backyard family photos in the setting sun.  It was the perfect place for their little kids to roll around in the grass and play with their dog, Crash.  Their littlest was full of energy and has such a cute, spunky little personality.  And their daughter, well she couldn’t be more beautiful.  She happens to be the same age as my son Dylan and they have been in the same class at school for two years in a row now.  Last year Dylan was a little smitten with her in a kindergarten type of way, and you’ll understand why!

The kids did so well with the pictures that they got to have a popsicle as a treat, which made for some cute pictures as well.

Thanks Sidari family!

The Sidaris are also celebrating their 10 year anniversary this month so we got a couple shots of Claire in her wedding dress.  Isn’t she stunning?!  Happy Anniversary you guys!

The Holdaways are an adorable family we have the pleasure of living near.  Trish does my hair, and I have NEVER had anyone I’ve been more happy with.  (No offense to my past hair-girls.)

Anyway, I happen to like to like to get my hair did and Trish happens to like to have family pictures so we worked out a trade, of sorts.  I am ALWAYS open to trading.  Do you babysit, massage. . . are you another photographer??  I’m happy to work something out- shoot me an email!

So I met the Holdaway family on a beautiful and sunny evening at Gasworks Park.  The sun was just on it’s way to bed and all of the sailboats were coming in to the harbor for the night- what an amazing show!!  I could have sat for hours just watching them sway back and forth.  Little Maxwell was more interested in the pebbles on the shore, and the bugs in the grass, and anything and everything else.  He was the perfect three-year-old and ran and played and gave a few kisses to mom and dad.  Those toddlers really make me work, but I just love the shots I get from them!

Thank you Holdaways for amazing pictures, and amazing hair.  :)

This is my favorite shot of the night.  Hands.  Down.

I had the privilege of photographing little Jacoby’s first birthday party not long after we celebrated our own little darling’s first birthday.  It was fun to see all of the work that Jacoby’s mom had put into his party.  She did such a great job!  As you’ll see, it was a bug themed party in their beautiful back yard.  Absolutely no detail was left out, down to the little fondant bugs on the cake and cupcakes.  Jacoby wasn’t sure about the cake, but he had lots of fun being passed around between many loving friends and family members.  It is such a joy to see the huge network of support that this little guy has.  What a lucky little boy!  Happy Birthday Jacoby!!

The Crockett family met me in Seattle’s famous Pike Place Market for a fun family photo session on a beautiful and clear Saturday morning.  We hit some of Pike’s more low-key locations to avoid the crowds an urban vibe for their shoot.  I just love the texture the torn and peeling posters create on the colorful wall that became the backdrop for a family shot.  And who can resist the gum wall?  Don’t worry, we made sure little Jayne didn’t walk away chewing anything.  :)   And speaking of Miss Jayne, I’m not sure I’ve seen a more beautiful little girl in my life.  She was adorable in every way and knew exactly how to work the camera.  Thanks so much Carlee for giving me the pleasure of spending a Saturday morning at Pike with your beautiful family!!

I love doing newborns.  Love, love.  They’re so sweet and while you might expect it to be stressful, I find newborn sessions to be the least stressful of all.  I just love shushing them and rocking their little bodies to sleep.  Asher was no different.  He slept like a champ and hardly cried.  His big brother is perhaps the cutest little boy I’ve ever laid eyes on and he was equally sweet.  I’m not sure how his parents ever say no to those baby blues.

This weekend we went up to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival and it was beautiful!  The sun was shining and the flowers were in full-bloom.  Unfortunately, the rest of the Seattle metro area had the same idea and we were in horrible traffic the whole way.

We checked out some of the tulip fields and then went over to a little produce stand and ate wood-fired pizza and delicious ice cream.  Could you ask for anything more?

Of course, 3 o’clock in the afternoon isn’t the ideal time of the day to shoot in open sun but I’m glad to have these pictures anyway.  And if you’ve ever wondered why photographers don’t shoot in mid-day sun it’s because of all the shadows it casts on faces and such.  Now don’t you feel informed.  :)

These guys are so awesome.  They were friends of ours when we lived in Spokane and I was really glad to get to hang out with them again when I visited for pics.  I’ve shot their family before and I also did a bunch (literally) of weddings for their family.  I’m pretty much an honorable member of their extended family (even if that is a self-appointed position).  :)

Miss Liv was just a tiny thing when I first met her, but now she’s a full-fledged toddler.  She is so sweet and talkative.  I loved hearing all the words she has learned.  Isn’t she a beauty?  I think she takes after her mama.  :)
