We had a little get-together for Stella’s first birthday.  Nothing huge, but a reason for me to decorate and bake.  :)

And sew, and pull out my vintage glassware, buy fresh flowers. . .  oh man, I love a party.

These cupcakes were amazing.  But, if you decide to make them I would suggest that you pull the little bag of silica gel beads OUT of the freeze-dried strawberries before you put them in the blender.  On my first attempt, I opened the blender lid to find a tiny empty paper baggie that said DO NOT EAT sitting on top of my strawberries.  Not cool.  (Don’t worry, guests I made a second batch.)

And THIS is my reward.  The best (albeit blurry) kissy-face ever.

Dylan is my one and only little boy.  He was my first baby and will always be so special to me.  Getting pictures of him is hard because he generally doesn’t like to be the subject of pictures, and unlike his little sister, he doesn’t often dress up and do things that make me think, “oh man, I’ve got to get my camera.”  So when he came home from school one day with a loose tooth, I knew that my moments with his beautiful little boy smile were limited and a full-on photo shoot was scheduled for the next free morning.  The tooth still hasn’t made it’s way out – that will be cause for another photo shoot- but I’m glad I didn’t wait because it’s only a matter of time.

I wanted to post these of Stella before I head to Spokane this weekend because I know I won’t get around to it once I’m home and editing like a mad-woman.

These pictures were taken at the beginning of September and are significant because she’s wearing a diaper cover that was made by her great, great, great grandmother for Grandma when she was a baby.  (did that make sense?)  And the dress was Stella’s grandma’s when she was a baby too.

So I kept looking through the pictures I edited from Scarlett’s little session and each time I felt like something was missing.  I had quickly ran through the pics on my camera as we drove home from Pike and I  remembered there being one really fantastic picture.  Maybe it was my lack of sleep, maybe I was rushing through when I edited in hopes that I could finish before Stella woke up again, or maybe I have permanent “pregnancy brain”. . . . but somehow I left out the absolute gem from the session.  This picture beats all the rest by a mile if you ask me.

So here it is in both color and black and white.  Which do you like best?

My little Scarlett turned two a couple of weeks ago and I’ve been wanting to get pictures of her to mark the occasion.  Today we finally made it down to Pike Place Market with photography on the agenda and I am so glad we did.  Scarlett hammed it up as usual and I think we got some great shots.

Scarlett, I adore you.  In all of your sassy glory, you are MY daughter and I love every inch of you.

You may be thinking “why would you want a picture of the back of your kid’s head?”  I love this one though, and I think it is because I could recognize the back of that head in a crowd of a million and instantly know that it belonged to me.  :)

And you may have noticed Dylan got in on a few shots.  Unfortunately, most pictures of the two of them are totally goofy.  What can you do?

FINALLY!

Finally I’m posting because FINALLY she’s here!  Okay, well she’s actually a month old today- but who’s counting. . . I’ve had my hands full!

Miss Stella Jane Tucker was born on June 28th and weighed 7 lbs 10 ounces (and that’s a week early!) and was 20 inches long.  She is absolutely the sweetest and she is the perfect addition to our little family.  We’re both doing great and enjoying settling into our new life in Seattle.

So without further ado. . . here is my littlest girl!

The pics above were taken at less than 1 week.

Below were taken at 2 weeks exactly.  Notice the pink heart birthmark she has on her side? Cute, huh?

June 19, 2010

Today I was deleting all of my memory cards to make room for what lies ahead.  Next Monday, the 28th, I’m going to be induced and we’ll have our baby Stella.  Yay!  (read: YIKES!)

So there will probably be a pretty big break in the blog action around here.  I’ll try to get a post of Stella up, but I can’t guarantee when.  :)

But in the meantime, I thought I’d leave you with a few gems from my now deleted cards.  I happened to have my camera with me one day when we stopped at the park, or the WHEEEEE! as Scarlett calls it.  How can you resist stopping at the park when your little girl is yelling “WHEEEE!  WHEEEEE!  Wheeeee!!!” from the back seat?

Then the last one was taken today of Brad and Scarlett.  We decided to take a break from packing to enjoy the pool and nice weather.  Sadly after a whole year of living right above our apartment complex’s pool, this will probably be the only time we get to swim in it this season.  Anyway, we swam and then everyone napped and when Scarlett woke up she wanted her Daddy.  How sweet is that?

Soccer Mom {PERSONAL}

May 21, 2010

I think I deserve the “Soccer Mom of the Year” award for coming up with these.  :)

Brad and I are coaching our son’s 4/5/6 year-old soccer team this year.  Okay, Brad does the coaching and I handle the organizational part.

We were out of town for Picture Day so I offered to do the team’s pictures on another day.  Then I got a little ambitious and decided that the kids should have “Memory Mates” like the real picture people sell.  This one is even more fun because it’s personalized for the boys with their team name.  I’ve been swamped with editing a wedding and processing a bunch of print orders, so this is all I can muster for the blog this week.  It’s kinda fun, though.  :)

Go Blue Stars!!

This weekend we went down to Clarkston to visit my family and enjoy the Asotin County Fair with them.  My family has been involved with the fair since I was little, so it’s a tradition that I’ve missed out on for the last 8 years or so.  Also, it was my little sister’s last year in the fair so I had to go cheer her on.  :)

I knew the kids would love seeing all of the animals, but I had no idea just how much time we’d be spending in the sheep barn.  Apparently Scarlett has a special place in her heart for things that say “baa”.

We also took the kids to the {mini} carnival.  Both of the kids loved the rides and Scarlett kept trying to climb through the little barriers to get in line with Dylan.  She just couldn’t understand why she didn’t get to ride the “big boy” rides with him.

Happy Easter!

April 5, 2010

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend!  Ours was very relaxed and a little chilly.  The kids had a visit from the Easter Bunny and I got a few shots I thought I should share for the grandparents’ sake.  :)

Two things I notice when I look at these:

Dylan has the most wonderful camera expressions (heavy sarcasm).

There’s a good reason I never shoot in direct sunlight.  Although you can’t exactly have the Bunny hide all the eggs in the shade just for good pictures.
