Justine {CLASS OF 2010}

September 30, 2009

Justine is adorable.  Measuring in at a formidable 5’0″, she even makes me feel like a giant.  She’s spunky and fun and it’s no surprise that she’s a Ferris High cheerleader.  Go (enter mascot name here)!  She wanted a colorful backdrop for her senior portraits, so we headed to Riverfront park for the flowers and ended up wandering the streets of downtown Spokane looking for other gems.  I think Justine would have rather been shopping at Nordstroms, but wouldn’t we all.

By the way, have you ever seen such beautiful eyes?  I’m not sure I have. . .

Justine {SNEAK PEEK}

September 29, 2009

Last night I shot Justine’s Senior Portraits in downtown Spokane.  She is tiny and super cute.  Here is one of my favorite shots from the night.

More to come!

New In-home {mini}Studio!!!

September 27, 2009

Yesterday I set up a very miniature studio in my house.  It will be great for those cold winter months that lie ahead.

Here are some shots of Scarleydoodle. (Yes, as horrible as it may be, that is what we call her. )

These are my kiddos.  I had been trying to get these two together for some portraits since their birthdays (end of July and end of August) but it just never seemed to happen.

I really wanted Brad to be able to come along to help, but dental school has taken most (okay all) of his spare time lately.  So I finally just bit the bullet and loaded Scarlett into the backpack along with a few different dresses, and carried her, my camera gear, and the little rocking chair to the Duncan Garden at Manito.  Dylan was bribed/threatened with a sucker/a lifetime of punnishment and needed to be *constantly* reminded of this.  Scarlett basically just ran throughout the park as I chased her.  Not ideal for portraits, unless you’re fond of the back of a little girl’s head.  I finally figured out that if I stood her in the middle of the flower-bed she wouldn’t move.  Genius!  The only problem with that was that she hated it and cried and made angry faces most of the time.  Also not good for portraits.

The most aggrivating and unbelievable part of the evening was when a woman actually sat in my tiny little rocking chair for her own picture while I was chasing Scarlett nearby.  She thought it was hilarious.  I was fuming.  When she stood up, the rocking chair was litteraly stuck to her backside.  Oh the nerve.

By the way, I also made Scarlett’s dress.

Matchy Match

September 20, 2009

This is another project post.  I’ve been on a roll lately.

Brad went fishing on Friday, so I spent most of the day sewing my dress.  Then when I saw how much extra fabric I had, I decided to try Scarlett’s little jacket.  I’ve been imagining it for a while, and it was surprisingly easy.  I’m getting pretty good at drawing out patterns, if I do say so myself.  :)   The jacket is reversible to an Amy Butler stripe print.  The dress is an Anna Maria Horner pattern and the fabric is also by Anna Maria.  Love her.

I found the instructions for the fabric roses on the headband here.

I know it’s dorky, but I just love matching my little girl at church.

Projects {PART 2}

September 17, 2009

I finished this a few weeks ago, but Scarlett kept maiming herself which prevented any photo sessions.

I saw this pattern and a few other really cute crochet patterns on this etsy site and couldn’t resist.  It worked up amazingly fast and I just love the way it turned out!

Holden & Kelly {ENGAGED}

September 14, 2009

Like I said before, these two had the sweetest vintage style.  They both just oozed coolness and fit together like a pair of old bowling shoes.

They’re getting married on Halloween and inviting their guests to come in costume.  Fun!

I was excited to find that they had picked some of the grungiest places in downtown Spokane for our shoot.  We were all literally filthy after this shoot, and I was constantly picking weeds out of my hair.  I think it payed off, though.  :)   Thanks Kelly and Holden, and congrats to you both!

Side note:  I am so in love with Holden’s name, that I think Dylan needs a little brother named Holden.

Holden & Kelly {SNEAK PEAK}

September 12, 2009

These guys have so much style it is ridiculous.  I don’t know if this one is my favorite, but it was just begging to be edited so it’s the first one I’ve finished.

More to come on Monday. . . that is if I can leave them alone over the weekend.  I haven’t done such a good job of that yet.  :)

Hannah {CLASS OF 2010}

September 10, 2009

Hannah is as sweet as she is cute- and that says a lot!  I can’t decide what actress she looks most like. . . She definitely resembles Natalie Portman, and my husband refers to her as Lilah Garrity (if any of you watch Friday Night Lights).  Bottom-line:  she’s stunning.  She has that girl-next-door look and she’s really that type of girl.  She runs cross country, is active in church, and even told me she babysits.  What a girl!
